About Galata

Stay at a beautifully preserved 19th century mansion, nestled among the intimate streets of Cukurcuma – the centrally located artsy, bohemian and the most authentic neighborhood of the city.

Scattered with antique shops, galleries, theaters, cinemas, design stores and hip eateries, this quarter is known to be the stomping ground of artists, writers and intellectuals – and it is certainly not hard to guess why! Every corner and winding trail provides inspiration and an enchanting journey back in time.

Renovated to maintain its historical charm by internationally acclaimed design firm, Autoban, The Stay Galata welcomes its guests with 18 spacious and high-ceilinged rooms and the terrace lounge and bar that introduce breathtaking views of the old city and Galata Tower. The structure, commissioned by the Zenovitch family in 1882 is inspired by French architecture, and boasts original design elements including its marble stairways, wrought iron handrails, doors and tile flooring that have been seamlessly blended with modern textures and forms to provide guests with a unique and comfortable stay. The lush trees that populate the open public space behind the hotel provide a breath of fresh air in the heart of this historic and cozy part of town.

Located a five-minute walk away from Istiklal Caddesi– a major shopping and entertainment street that runs through the heart of the Beyoglu district – and in a walking distance to the nightlife, shopping and dining center Taksim, the hotel is also a short trip away from the Bosphorus waterfront, major attractions and the tram and subway lines that give easy access to historic sights. The neighboring Karakoy, Cukurcuma and Cihangir quarters that are also just a few minutes away on foot, boast an enchanting historical charm and are filled with design stores and hip cafes. Two of the prominent institutions of Istanbul’s art scene that host most of the cultural and art activities, modern arts museum SALT Galata and İKSV (Istanbul Foundation of Culture and Arts) are also within walking distance.

Stay with us to experience a local taste of the city while you explore Beyoglu’s diverse culture, fascinating history and vibrant nightlife.
